Christmas in Santo

Here is a collection of photos and comments to show what we have been doing over the Christmas period.
First Kalton, the chief peer educator at NCYC dressed up for their Christmas party and did the honours.
Then came the VFHA picnic

Mel and Mark came down from Hong Kong to visit us for a week. Melanie Walls is a very good friend of Alice and we have known her since she was small. She married Mark this summer and we were delighted when they said they wanted to visit Vanuatu over Christmas and the New Year. It was  a good excuse to visit our favourite places.
Mel and Mark catch the ferry to Oyster Island.              Next day we went to Port Orly and had a lovely snorkel.

Children the world over love playing on the sea shore.
We spent Christmas Day at Aore Beach resort.
Annie relaxing in the water and then first cup of tea on Christmas Morning as the sun rises.
The staff from the plantation came to sing Christmas carols and then had lunch.
Shortly before lunch the rain came! A typical tropical downpour for about 2 or 3 hours but we were not downhearted as we tucked into a lovely Christmas lunch of chicken, ham and lobster.
Mel and Mark enjoying their Christmas. And a game of mixed pool volley ball for anyone who wanted, staff, family, guests, young and old.
That evening we had a very professional band with one of Vanuatu's best singers, Vanessa Quai. She was excellent.
Next day the sun shone and M and M went off for  canoe along the coast.
Meanwhile Annie and I went snorkelling and enjoyed the brilliance of the Aore fish at close quarters. I was particularly pleased with this photo of a trigger fish known as a Picasso fish or Humuhumu!

That afternoon M and M went for a ride at LopeLope. It was stunningly beautiful.

And so farewell to Mel and Mark. Thank you for visiting us and sharing your Christmas. We wish you many many years of joy and peace and many happy and rewarding adventures in your life.
